Traveling from Athens to Mykonos is a fantastic journey, and you have a couple of great options to choose from!

1. Ferry

The most popular, and my most favorite way to get to Mykonos is by ferry. Here’s how you can do it:

Departures: Ferries leave from Piraeus Port, which is easily accessible from central Athens via the metro or taxi.

Duration: The trip usually takes about 2.5 to 5 hours, depending on whether you take a high-speed or regular ferry.

Tickets: It's best to book your tickets in advance, especially during the peak summer season. You can check companies like SeaJets, Hellenic Seaways, or Golden Star Ferries for schedules and prices.

Flights:

If you prefer a quicker option, you can also fly:

Airlines: There are several flights from Athens International Airport to Mykonos, operated by Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air.

Duration: The flight takes about 40 minutes.

Gen X Tips

Check the Weather: Ferry schedules can sometimes change due to weather conditions, so keep an eye out!

Timing: If traveling during the summer, try to catch an early morning or late afternoon ferry to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the beautiful views.

Once you arrive in Mykonos, you’re in for a treat with stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and charming streets filled with shops and restaurants! Enjoy your trip! 🌊✨

Oh, Mykonos is stunning! You’re in for a treat. Here’s a fabulous mix of activities to help you soak up the sun, culture, and vibrant nightlife:

Beaches

1. Psarou Beach: Famous for its crystal-clear waters and luxurious vibe. Perfect for sunbathing and people-watching.

2. Super Paradise Beach: Known for its lively atmosphere and beach bars. Great for dancing to music by the sea!

3. Elia Beach: A bit quieter, ideal for relaxation and enjoying a more laid-back vibe.

Exploring the Town

Mykonos Town (Chora): Wander through the charming narrow streets, lined with whitewashed buildings and colorful bougainvillea. Don’t miss the iconic windmills and the picturesque Little Venice area!

Shopping: Check out the boutiques for unique local crafts, designer clothes, and beautiful jewelry.

Cultural Experiences

Delos Island: Take a short boat trip to this UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore ancient ruins and learn about Greek mythology—it’s truly fascinating!

Archaeological Museum of Mykonos: A great place to see artifacts from Delos and learn about the island's history.

Nightlife

Cavo Paradiso: A must-visit for nightlife lovers! This iconic club offers stunning views and top DJs.

Jackie O’s: A fabulous beach club that’s perfect for sunset cocktails and dancing the night away.

Gen X Insider Tips

-Visit in the shoulder seasons (late spring or early fall) for fewer crowds and pleasant weather.

Rent a scooter or ATV: It’s one of the best ways to explore the island at your own pace!

Sunset at Little Venice: Grab a drink and enjoy the breathtaking sunset views—it's magical!

Enjoy your time in Mykonos, and make sure to soak up every beautiful moment! 🌊☀️🍹

Bakalo

At the foot of an old 18th-century mansion in Chora, the few tables at Bakalo are always busy. Old cement tiles and former Greek advertising cover the walls, and the colors, fabrics, and patterns throw things back to the golden ages of Mykonos in the 1960s. Order finger food like marinated sardines with sea fennel from Tinos or Mykonian spicy cheese and pepper spread, or traditional Greek dishes like grilled octopus served with Santorini split fava and lime marinated green lentils or roasted lamb shank with braised vegetables.
